SEO Rules

SEO Rules by Fawaz

Some people think doing seo by themselves is an impossible task, remember one nothing is impossible. Search Engine Optimization is not like coding, seo is all about technique and tricks. There are a lot of books and forums from which you can learn them but these techniques are no good to you if you don’t apply them. Below given are some major techniques for seo and to improve your websites ranking.

1. Write Well
You can get the best of your content while writing it well and throwing some keywords into the content. Adding some special keywords wouldn’t hurt as long as you stay to subject.

2. Be Relevant
You have to stay focused on the subject you are writing about. From the blog title to meta description. To better understand it here’s an example if you writing about cars stay on your niche, don’t write about if you celebrity went to rehab.

3. Don’t overdo it
You don’t have to stuff all the words inside your mind in meta keywords. I have seen some website literally having hundreds of keywords. This is big no in seo. This will penalize your site in the search results.

4. Write Unique Content
Unique content is pretty simple to understand. If you have unique content then people will link to you which results in back links and content will start moving the web.

5. Be Patient
Patience is also big part of whole seo. Some people just lose hope after few weeks or a month. Search Engine Optimization is not something that would be done in weeks. It takes some time.

Know more about Do-It-Yourself: seomag

Know more about Do-It-Yourself: seo by Satwinder

Ever felt intimidated at the convoluted, jargon-ridden information about Internet marketing for small businesses available on the Net? Ever been horrified by the huge fees the experts charge, putting search engine optimization beyond your own means? Ever thought: What exactly is search engine optimization anyway, and can I do it myself?

The answer is: Yes, you can! The basics of search engine optimization in applied web marketing are simple. It’s all to do with the keyword content of your text copy, and can be summarized in seven points.

1. Register a good domain name which reflects what your site is about. Rather, you want to register something like Best Widgets because that would inspire confidence in people looking for quality widgets who would not necessarily have heard of Fred Jones the widget-maker.

2. Name your page URLs based on reasons similar to the above for your web promotion, except now you can be more specific. Search engines like to know what your page is about. Name a page after a product (BigYellowWidgets.htm) or a service or action (Buy-Widgets-by-Post.htm) on one of the sales pages.

3. The text in the title tag is crucial in letting search engines know what each page is about. Put your important keywords in your title tags, using both the singular and plural versions (people will search for both) and make these tags different and specific for each page. For example, “Widgets and After Sales Widget Services”. Whatever you do, don’t call the home page “Index”, but treat it almost as a mini-description.

4. The other tags (at the top of the html page) between the two “HEAD” tags are not as important as the title tag, but the description tag is still used by some search engines in displaying what you would like web users to see when they scroll down a page of search results. Some search engines don’t use the description tag at all; others, like Google, sometimes use part of it together with part of the main body text surrounding prominent keywords on your page. So you may as well treat the description tag seriously; make it brief (about 25 to 30 words) and as comprehensive as possible in the short space allowed. Make sure you have your popular keywords included within your description tag. The ALT tag is used for a very short description of an image or graphic file, and is what is displayed if you allow your mouse pointer to hover above a graphic. These days it is not considered important for search engines. The COMMENT tag is never displayed on the body page, and is used by coders and designers as an instruction or reminder to themselves about what that section of html coding should be doing; in the past, some webmasters in their quest for website promotion and search engine ranking used to stuff keywords in the comments tags, but now it is generally acknowledged that the main search engines pay little or no attention to these.

5. Keyword density. Each search engine has its own preference as to how many times a keyword phrase appears on the page in order to signify the relevance of that keyword phrase (in other words, in order to help the search engine understand what the page is about). Around 5 to 8 per cent is a rough guide as to the optimal level. Don’t overdo it, otherwise it will be seen as spam or keyword-stuffing. Also use your keywords in the headings tags H1 and H2. There is an H3 tag as well, but it is doubtful whether search engines bother with that, as it is perceived as less prominent on the page, therefore less relevant to what the page is about.

6. Don’t forget good linking in your website marketing. Search engines will judge the importance of your web pages to some extent on the number and quality of incoming links from other sites. Ask other webmasters with sites on similar themes to yours for a link, in exchange for a link back. These sites should not be in competition with yours, but should be similarly themed. You may occasionally be asked by other webmasters if they can link to your site. If this is so then have a look at their site; make sure that their site is relevant, that it has at least some Page Rank, and that it just “feels” good, and has no nasty surprises like redirects or unexpected popups. You don’t want to be associated with a “bad neighborhood”!

7. Make sure that important keywords are included in the anchor text within inbound links from other sites. This is crucial to search engines when they try to figure out the relevance and importance of your pages. The inbound link from the other site should take the form of something like this (I’m using normal brackets instead of angle brackets so as not to use compromising html): your important keywords included here(/A). You should definitely avoid something like click here(/A), which tells search engines nothing except that your site is about “click here”. Be careful!

Google Page Rank And Alexa Rank - SEO

Google Page Rank And Alexa Rank - SEO by NARESH DOGRA

So, you’ve heard a few things about seo and now you are trying to learn some more about what seo actually is and what your goals actually are. Well, your main two goals in seo are to increase your websites position in the search engine results pages(SERP’s) and increase website traffic. Google Pagerank represents how important your website is compared to all other websites and Alexa Rank is how many visitors your website gets in relation to all other websites on the Internet. You are aiming to get a high Google Pagerank (commonly refered to as PR) and a low Alexa Rank. What looking at these two measured elements does is give you some idea of how well, or how badly, your website is doing in comparison to all other websites. Lets explore these two rankings in a little more detail.

What is Google Page Rank?

The co-founders of Google, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, describe Google Page Rank as a tool designed to rank a website that is listed in the Google search index. A Pagerank of a web page is given on a scale of 0-10. 0 is the lowest possible score for a website and conversely a 10 is the highest score possible. A high Pagerank is defined by the amount, importance(PageRank) and relevance of web pages that link to the web page in question. When a web page links to another web page, Google consider that to be a vote for the page in question and therefore of some importance. There is a formula associated to how PageRank is calculated but for the purposes of this article it is too indepth, but if you are interested in the theory behind PageRank (PR) then a quick search on Google will provide fruitful.

What is Alexa Rank?

The Alexa Rank is different to Google PR; Alexa rank websites based solely on traffic to the website. Alexa rank websites in descending order towards 0, where the most highly visited website on the Internet is given a rank of 0. At this point in time the top three ranked websites (most visitors) on Alexa are, 0 - Yahoo, 1 - Google and 2 - MySpace. According to Alexa these 3 websites get the most traffic on the Internet. Alexa Rankings vary from 1 to a billion. Every web site in the world is included in the Alexa Rank, so the scale on your Alexa ranking is constantly changing in relation to other websites on the Internet.

The Best Keywords to use for seomag

The Best Keywords to use for seo by jay brock

ood search engine optimization and marketing includes several factors that are explained in these seo articles to help you achieve better search engine placement. Most of the advice given can be achieved almost immediately, where as other factors explained will take a lot of your time and effort. If you are serious about search engine optimization then you’re on the right track. Please note that the tips mentioned in these seo articles are used by SearchBliss and some of the information stated is merely our opinion.

Before you begin reading these articles, please keep this in mind. The most important advice I can give you is to build your web pages with your visitors in mind. We have all been to sites that “don’t make much sence” as a result of webmasters targeting keywords that they have trouble placing into readable text. You can have thousands of web site visitors each day, but it is useless traffic when they exit your page out of frustration, and they may never return.

Targting the Right Keywords

Choose the right keywords. This is extremely important and should be done before your marketing campaigns start. Optimizing a site takes a lot of time, patience, and hard work. Doing this targeting the wrong keywords can be devistating. Find relevant keywords that are searched for often. Make sure you target “phrases” rather than single keywords. For example, targeting “hosting” alone will not help you. There are too many search results. But targeting “web hosting provider”, “web hosting service”, and “hosting business” will get you more realistic results (and a ton of traffic). Plus you are still targeting “hosting”. I would suggest targeting ONE “reach phrase” and TWO “realistic phrases”. Three phrases may seem like a lot, but not when one or two keyterms is in all three phrases. When this occurs, things don’t get watered down, giving better results.

Let’s begin with the “bare bones” of seo. Title tag and meta tags. Most search engines give little to no relevance to some of these, however, since no one really knows how they are factored by each engine, they are still important steps in optimizing any web site.

1: The TITLE tag

Here is an example Title tag which should appear in-between the tags of your web page(s):

My Business Title

The title tag is very important. Why? Because search engines not only give it value in relation to optimization, SE’s use it in their search results. Search on ANY search engine, and you’ll see the content of this tag used in the anchor text of the links for each web site. Here is a little experiment. Follow the Google link (opens in a new window) and take a look. Google Experiment

There are 28,100,000+ pages in Google with the title tag Untitled Document So most of the web page links displayed are Untitled Document. Why? Because who ever built these web pages used an editing program that adds the title tag, and they never changed the title text which is certainly poor marketing.

So what should be in the title tag? The name of your business or web site with the “keyword phrase” you are targeting. For example, your business sells “watches”. This is a broad search term and using it alone my not work out for you. There are 42,500,000 estimated search results in Google. However searching for the term “Swiss watches” I get 2,760,000 estimated results. The likelihood of your site appearing in the first 3 pages of Google is much more realistic using “Swiss watches”. Plus, the keyword “watches” is still present, so you are actually targeting and marketing both terms.

Here is a good title tag using this example:

Search Engine Optimization Inc, seo Tools

Keep it short and to the point. Targeting too many keywords can “thin out” your website’s relevance.

2: The DESCRIPTION Meta Tag

Here is an example description meta tag which should appear in-between the tags of your web page(s):

The description meta tag is less important for optimization, but it is still utilized by the search engines. Google for example, will use the web pages body text, image alt tags, and yes even portions of the description meta tag will show at times. The body text and alt tags will be discussed later on in these articles.

So in my opinion, it is important enough to use. The best way to use it is to place your keyword phrase inside this meta tag “once”, then split up the phrase and add the keywords again separately. But keep it readable, and avoid too many comas. This can be viewed as “spam”, so don’t do it or your site could be black listed and ignored by search engines all together. Also, use two sentences maximum and avoid “sales pitches” like “The best shop ever”, and so on.

Here is a good description meta tag marketing the term “seo tools” from the example above:

Notice that “seo” and “TOOLS” appear twice, but the second time is split with the term “SOFTWARE” (seo software being a secondary targeted keyword phrase).

3: The KEYWORD Meta Tag

Here is an example keyword meta tag which should appear in-between the tags of your web page(s):

The keyword meta tag is believed one of the LEAST recognized meta tag by search engines. It carries very little weight when it comes to search engine optimization. However, it is not ignored by all engines. For example, through my own experiment, I have used a single keyword (like spaloof - which means nothing) that had very little if any results when searching for it. After being indexed, SearchBliss had appeared at the top of MSN. The keyword was NO where else on SearchBliss. Only in the keyword meta tag. This says to me that some search engines DO give the keyword meta tag some weight. So as a result, I still use the keyword meta tag.

I suggest adding your target keywords 3 to 4 times without REPEATING THE SAME TERM. This is viewed as “spam”. Spam example: Swiss watches,Swiss watches,Swiss watches,… This is more commonly know as “keyword stuffing”. It also applies to everything else being covered is these articles.

Here is a good keyword meta tag using the “seo Tools” example:

Notice that the keywords listed 3 times (seo & tools) are not only split up using other key terms, but are also never too close together. I do this by adding other keywords/phrases in-between the ones with the target terms. The term “seo tools” only appears together one time.

In order to market your services, it’s also good to speak to individuals just to see how they think or process information. Keep in mind seo that you want your customers to keep coming back seo to your website. For instance, hiring a research company to collect data for you in reference to your SEO is a good idea.

Back in the late 80’s, the government used a type of marketing method call the Census. After the Census had been conducted, the government would sell the information to certain private businesses to pinpoint different ethnic groups. This method seo conveyed what each household used for services and products. Now it’s done a little different, mostly with computers, surveys and media.

Search engine optimization (seomag) guideline, a guaranteed blueprint

Search engine optimization (seo) guideline, a guaranteed blueprint. by Y Julaidan

Suppose you have a website about plastic surgery. You have invested a lot of time putting valuable information, videos, pictures, forms to enlist subscribers, free reports and the rest of good stuff. To your misfortune, you decide one day seo to Google your website out so you sit in front seo your PC, open your browser, open up Google and type “plastic surgery” and hit the enter button. For the amount of work done which seo sure to be proud of you expect your website name seo and URL to be listed at least in the first 5 pages seo of the search results. To your dismay you keep looking and looking, but you don’t find even in the first 50 pages of the search results. Welcome to the latest internet seo age where the World seo Wide Web is saturated enough with millions and millions of websites seo that cover every topic and subject you can think of.
In the past seo, it was relatively easy to have your website seo indexed and seen in the first few pages of search engine results, but it is much more difficult now. Google in particular, the king of search engines seo, has been making life harder and harder for website seo owners and SEO specialists to get good ranking in its search results. To the point that even if you use pay per click campaigns or PPC (paying to get good rankings) and your website isn’t optimized, you still will not get good positions with cost effective bids on your ads! This is how hard it has become.

You probably heard of the short word SEO in many websites and forums, which is an abbreviation of Search Engine Optimization. In fact, I can assure you that you probably have heard of SEO many more times than the long word because everybody seo uses the short name. It is one of the hottest seo and most pursued topics in today’s saturated internet era and you should have probably guessed why by now if you have some knowledge about how search engines function. If not, don’t worry as this is why I’m writing this article.
SEO is a set of optimization steps and procedures that website owners and programmers undertake to improve their seo ranking in organic (unsponsored) search engine results. Why is it important? Because if done, it translates to huge amounts of free traffic versus paying for seo it in sponsored results like pay per click campaigns. This by itself saves thousands of dollars of advertising costs which other advertisers pay gladly to attract traffic and make their ads placed in better positions in search engine results. One important point that I have to clarify is that distributing so many links pointing back to your website around the internet and getting free traffic from it doesn’t by itself mean that your website is optimized as many seo people might think. Your website is optimized only if you see your website address within the first 1 to 5 pages of the organic (unpaid) search engine results.

Now let’s get to the good stuff. How to optimize a website to be visible in the first few pages of search engine results. The rules that Google demands have become harder and harder and a lot has to be done for a website to get to that sweet spot in the first page of Google search results. I’m going to list the tasks that have to be done for maximum seo optimization of your website. All has to be done to get better results. Doing it needs time, dedication and might require probably some more knowledge about HTML and website structure. If you don’t have some background and haven’t used an HTML editor before seo, I recommend that you read more books or guides on the subject and practice a bit on a simple HTML editor like Front Page. Here are the tasks you have to do. Pay attention to the ranking:-

1- Your website URL: - That’s the first thing to consider. Your domain name should be the first thing you optimize before anything seo else. Let’s go back to the plastic surgery website example. A good name would be “plasticsurgeon.com” or “plasticsurgery.com”. Notice that the URL directly seo clarifies what content is exactly in that website. In case if the words you chose were already taken by others, you can try alternative arrangement seo of words or come up with synonyms that serve the same meaning like “cosmeticsurgery.com” or “plasticbeauty.com”. A bad choice would be “beautylab.com” or “facefactory.com”. Notice how I used seo the “.com” in every example as this is what you should aim for. “.com” extensions are the preferred by search engines and more popular.

2- Content is king: - If I have to say this thousand times I will! Have really good content in your website and I mean a minimum of 10 pages of original good content in your website. Original content means it is not duplicated a lot online, it is your own original seo work (not a copy), has reasonable, but not excessive keyword density, perfect spelling and grammatically correct and is rich and informative.

3- Your website title: - No I don’t mean the title you have their on your website’s front page. I mean the title within the HTML code in your home page or is called the index. The index is the first page a browser will go to once your domain seo is called. Before the body tag and after the head tag there is a title tag. You have to fill in your website title in there to look for example like this “Plastic Surgery guide”. This is important because seo it is the first thing search engines will read to know what your website is all about. Your title has to be brief and to the point. 5 words maximum in my opinion.

4- Your Meta tags: - These are important tags in your HTML code that serve many purposes. Search engine love them. You can find them right after the body tags previously mentioned. You can use your meta tags to:-

a. Describe your website:- Write a brief description about your website. Not too long though. 20 words max. Search engines will read this to know seo what your website is all about. For example “Plastic Surgery issues and topics. Know the pros and cons before you think about doing cosmetic surgery”

b. Keywords for your website:- Write the keywords relevant to your website topic. 5 to 10 highly relevant keyword is good. Don’t flood the keyword tag with non relevant keywords thinking you will attract more attention. For example:- plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, face lift, bone construction, face restructuring etc.

c. To direct search engine crawlers to strictly follow only your home seo page or certain important pages in your website. Crawlers are used by search engines to find and index websites by sending robots or spiders to crawl pages and index them.

Apply as much of these meta tags on your website to suit your purposes specially the description and keyword tags.

5- The headlines and the subheads in your content. It organizes the content and search engines will read it and will like seo your content because it is organized. You have to use HTML headline tags in the code around your headlines. Put level 1 head tags around your main headline and level 2, 3, 4 etc. or lower importance headlines.

6- Use sitemaps: A sitemap is a XML document that has the names and paths of all files and folders of your website. It is created and placed in the root directory of your website. The sitemap is really important for search engines because it serves like the directory for your website and shows the crawlers where the other pages of your website are so they can crawl and index them too. This is important because a search result can lead to any of your pages not only to your home page. Using sitemaps you can also specify how often you want search engine spiders to seo crawl you website! You can create one for free in a website called XML-sitemaps.com. Once created, you should go to Google webmasters tools page and add the sitemap so Google crawlers can find its path.

7- Use videos: - Search engines of these days like videos. Place a couple of nice videos in your website. You can make videos yourself or you can simply pick a video you like from YouTube, copy the imbed code and paste in the desired place into your HTML codethat’s it. Google owns YouTube you know and they like videos!

8- Use your images to be found: - Search engine love images. Make your website colorful with nice and relevant images. Place a description on your images seo that will lead to your website if an image search was done. In the HMTL code of your pictures place an “alt” tag and pick a good name for the picture that has keywords relevant to your website.

9- Set up a blog and connect it to your website: - Choose word press (the most spread) or blog spot (Google owned). The kind of blog I’m talking about is a blog that is hosted by your own server and its files and folders exist in your website’s root seo folder not the blog’s server. A lot of hosting accounts have a feature in their c-panel for an easy 3 clicks blog setup. Google likes blogs and it will help you seo a lot to have one.

10- As many relevant links to your website as possible: - notice that I mentioned it late, not to degrade its importance, but simply to show that it isn’t the single most important thing in SEO. Try to make as many high ranking websites that have topics relevant to you link to your website. I mean one way link as 2 way reciprocal links will not work as before. Find high ranking websites about plastic and cosmetic surgery and ask them to link to you. You have to be creative to make them do it or offer something in return other than a link back to them! If they agree to link to you, the link text itself has to have keywords relevant to you!

As can be seen from seo all of the above, SEO is a lot of hard work! Even SEO companies that charge thousands of dollars and have specialized teams to optimize sites sometimes don’t achieve seo the significant results that they desire. Still, you are far better off applying the SEO techniques described above than doing nothing. It will definitely benefit your website in both the short and long term. A last piece of advice, if you really seo want to grab that number 1 position in the first page, it will be much easier by choosing a topic on a small niche. It might be something that you are not interested in, but it will help a lot.

Update Passport Sales Center tops EDC Gold David Dubbs, Chris Campbell RoadMap to Riches

<![CDATA[Paying off mortgages, debt and creating instant financial gain, real estate, investments, self insurance, entertainment, travel and retirement options has positioned Passport To Wealth at the top of the home business arena. They now have a service called Passport Sales Center. Personal sales assistants will now call, follow up and close sales for members. The Secret Pays, LLC has announced a partnership with Passport To Wealth to introduce the addition of a popular new sales resource called Passport Sales Center (PCS).

PCS is a prospect sorting, calling and closing service that is fast becoming one of the most valued and effective of it's kind on the Internet. Its purpose is to minimize the work done by Passport To Wealth members and increase their sales.

The top Passport Sales Center money earner made over $17,000 the first 10 days with the Passport to Wealth / Passport Sales Center. Most of the sales were made by Personal Marketing Assistants (PSA's) Many Passport 2 Wealth distributors are making $2,000 to $3,000 their first week. Sherm's Passport Sales Center service is purely optional for Passport To Wealth members. But, according to Sherm Mason, CEO of www.TheSecretPays.com and a top producer in Passport To Wealth, those who opt for it are likely to see a great increase in their success rate.

Although Passport To Wealth has been extremely successful without the service, and many members have already achieved spectacular results, some business opportunity seekers 'simply like to speak with someone before they join a business.' Veterans of the home business scene like Sherm Mason may not mind speaking with prospects, but many new business owners feel differently about that. So, according to Mr. Mason, the Passport Sales Center program will be extremely beneficial for people just starting out their home business career.

Here's the way the PSC program works:

After first paying for the service, the Passport To Wealth member will prepare their PSC 'infrastructure,' which includes choosing a lead capture page website, as well as selecting who they want to be their personal sales assistant (PSA). One very interesting aspect of the PSA selection is that it can be a group of PSAs, or a specific PSA. There are a number of very talented and experienced people to choose from -- giving a true meaning to the word 'personal.'

One can even choose to be their own PSA, which could be an option the more experience members choose. The next step is to 'Get the Word out' for the lead capture page. There is a complete section of the Passport Sales Center members area dedicated to effective marketing techniques, giving each member an 'additional training website to go along with the training tools provided to members of our Passport To Wealth Team,' states Mr. Mason. When a visitor arrives at the PSC website, they will find one of the 'most thorough, detailed, and professional presentations of the Passport To Wealth business.'

If the visitor would like to speak with someone about the opportunity, they will fill out a short form requesting a call back. Then the PSA will call the prospect, answer their questions, talk to them about Passport To Wealth and, hopefully, make a sale for the member.

As Sherm contends, 'the whole process is smooth, educational, entertaining and highly effective. And, when used together with the tools, tips and support given to members of our team, the GRS service should help members achieve spectacular results.' Sherm Mason has been a home business entrepreneur for over 10 years and in Passport To Wealth for just under one month and already top earner.

The Absolute Best Day to Email Your Home Business Product Promotions

<![CDATA[Conventional Wisdom says email Business to Business on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday and Business to Consumers on Friday. That sentence could very well comprise this entire article on home business product promotions. However, it would be short changing you, my revered readers. Swimming against the tide of Conventional Wisdom is what we do as home business owners. It is in our blood, it is our nature! If we went with conventional wisdom, we would be stuck in a drab cubicle, deep within the bowels of a leviathan organization as anonymous cogs in a wheel, taking orders from a bozo boss and putting up with idiotic co workers. But we do not do that! I applaud all you casual wear CEOs for your decision, determination and fortitude as you pursue profits in your home business endeavors. The hard truth about the best day to email home business promotions is that there is no definitive answer. There are just too many variables to factor into the BEST DAY TO SEND equation. This is a question you have to answer for yourself. However, I do have some insight on the subject for you. So, let us start swimming! There are two overriding concerns: Open rates and Click thrus. Generally with a product promotion you will be after Click thrus. That will be the focus of this article. (An article about the best day to send newsletters for the highest Open rates can be found at the Big Bucks Blog, address below.) The most comprehensive study I have found on the subject took place over a 12 month period. It involved 2,000 organizations of all kinds, tracked 160,000 campaigns and 800,000,000 emails! The results were interesting, surprising and unfortunately, inconclusive. When you are after Click thrus with your home business product promotions, here are the best days to mail. Sunday is the best day when you mail in January, February, March, June, July, August or November. Monday is the best day when you mail in May or September. Saturday is the best day when you mail in April, October or December. These are not hard and fast rules to determine when you mail your home business campaigns. They are guidelines. At least you now have a point of reference. The best thing to do is to test your list against these guidelines. After all, no one has the same list with the same offer.
